Martin Broome - Non-Executive Chairman
Mr. Martin Broome B.Sc(Hons) Geology, M.Sc Engineering Rock Mechanics, Chartered Engineer, FIOM
Mr. Broome has more than 37 years of experience working in the minerals industry in Africa. Until 2010, Mr. Broome was Managing Director of African Mining Consultants (“AMC”) having founded AMC in 1994. This followed a 20 year career with Zambian Consolidated Copper Mines Limited (“ZCCM”) in the Zambian Copperbelt. Mr. Broome, an MSc graduate in Engineering Rock Mechanics from Imperial College London, progressed to being the Group Rock Mechanic Engineer for ZCCM until 1989. Following this, Martin was involved in project management for the Baluba and Chambishi mining projects before initiating AMC where he has overseen open pit and underground rock mechanics design projects, feasibility studies for large and small scale open pit and underground mining projects; mine audits, due diligence and competent person’s reports, mining methods, backfill and rock mechanics studies, government and parastatal mining, company privatizations, environmental auditing and project management.
Mr Broome was a non-executive director of Barclays Bank of Zambia plc, from 2003 to 2013 and has been Chairman of the Bank’s Subsidiary Audit Committee since 2009.
Nic Clift - Non-Executive Director
Mr Clift is a highly experienced and successful senior mining industry executive with particular expertise in resource projects in sub-Saharan and North Africa. This will be of great value to Celamin as the Company advances the development of its Chaketma Phosphate Project in Tunisia.
He has more than 30 years experience in the international resources industry, with roles in mining and base metals extraction, refining and recycling, and has worked in Africa, France, Germany, United Kingdom and Australia. He has held a variety of corporate, management, project, development and operating roles.
Mr Clift is a metallurgist with significant project experience. He was previously managing director of Algerian focused base metals company Terramin Australia Ltd (ASX: TZN), from September 26, 2011 to May 31, 2013. Prior to that he was General Manager of Algerian Operations at Terramin.
Mr Clift’s previous experience also includes roles with Anglo American, Kumba Iron Ore Ltd, Kamoto Operating Ltd, Zinifex Ltd, Mount Isa Mines Ltd, and Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines Ltd.
His expertise encompasses the management of large projects from concept phase, through exploration, and development and production.
Mr Clift is a graduate of the University of Manchester, and holds an MBA from the University of Queensland. He is also a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (FAusIMM).
Tim Markwell - Non-Executive Director
Mr Markwell is the Investment Manager of prominent mineral resources investment fund African Lion, and has previously sat on the Board of Celamin. African Lion is a major shareholder in Celamin, with a 33% shareholding, and as such it is considered appropriate for him to re-join the Board at this time.
Mr Markwell is a qualified geologist with 20 years’ experience in the resource sector, including senior technical roles with BHP Billiton, Golder Associates and Minara Resources. He has specific expertise in resource assessment and was involved in feasibility studies for a number of Australian resources projects.
Mr Markwell joined African Lion in February 2007. Prior to this he held roles as a resources/investment analyst with a broking firm and then a listed investment fund. He graduated with an honours degree in geology from the University of Western Australia in 1993, and has a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from FINSIA.
Sue-Ann Higgins - Non-Executive Director
Ms Higgins is an experienced company executive with more than 25 years in the mining industry. She has a diversified skill set and global corporate experience, and has held senior legal and commercial roles with ARCO Coal Australia Inc, WMC Resources Limited, Oxiana Limited and Citadel Resource Group Limited. Ms Higgins has extensive experience in governance and compliance, mergers and acquisitions, equity capital markets and mineral exploration, development and operations.
She currently holds executive roles with a number of private mining and exploration ventures and provides consulting services to several resources companies.
Ms Higgins holds Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degrees, is a chartered company secretary and a graduate of the AICD International Company Directors Course.
Melanie Leydin - Company Secretary
Ms Leydin is a Chartered Accountant and is a Registered Company Auditor. She graduated from Swinburne University in 1997, became a Chartered Accountant in 1999 and since February 2000 has been the principal of chartered accounting firm, Leydin Freyer. Ms Leydin has over 22 years' experience in the accounting profession and is a director and company secretary for a number of oil and gas, junior mining and exploration entities on the Australian Stock Exchange.
